We're here to answer all of your questions.

  • To be eligible for an investment loan, you'll typically need a strong credit history, stable income, and the ability to meet loan repayments. Most lenders also require a deposit (usually at least 20%) or equity in an existing property or cash deposit. Specific criteria may vary based on the type of investment and lender policies.

  • You'll need identification, proof of income (such as payslips or tax returns), bank statements, details of current assets and liabilities, and information about the property you wish to buy. Many lenders also want to see a budget or cash flow projection that demonstrates your understanding of the financial commitment and your ability to manage repayments. We will assist with this as part of our brokerage service.

  • If the loan is for an investment property, the process includes obtaining pre-approval (recommended but not required), finding the right property, submitting the loan application, and completing settlement. Our team leads this process to ensure a smooth experience.

    For other investment purposes, such as shares, the loan process typically involves obtaining pre-approval based on your financial situation and submitting a detailed loan application. The lender will expect you to provide an asset to secure the loan—often an existing property or another valuable asset such as shares—which they will need to value before finalising approval.

    Following the disbursement of funds, we remain in touch to check that the loan is set up properly and running smoothly. We then conduct a loan review every year to ensure that your rate, terms and loan features are always market-leading for your situation.

  • The time it takes to get an investment loan can vary depending on several factors, including lender processing times, the complexity of your financial situation, and the completeness of your application. Typically, the process can take anywhere from one to four weeks. This includes the time for submitting documents, undergoing a credit assessment, asset valuation, and formal approval.

  • Aside from loan repayments, investment loans in Australia may incur several loan-related expenses. These can include stamp duty, loan application fees, valuation fees, and ongoing loan maintenance fees. Lenders mortgage insurance (LMI) may be required if you’re borrowing more than 80% of a property’s value. There could also be fees for settlement, legal documentation, and, if applicable, break fees for early loan repayment or refinancing. Our job is to ensure that any and all costs are detailed and compared before you commit to a lender. We work to keep your costs to a minimum.
